What the assistant actually does

When someone asks a question, AskMyChurch checks the answer against your church's own content before sending it. If the answer is not in your content, it says so. It does not pull from the open internet or invent doctrine. It will not put words in your pastor's mouth.

Every plan includes these as standard:

Canon answers: the assistant answers from indexed sermons and links to the exact moment in the message where the pastor said it.
Bilingual: it detects whether the visitor is writing in English or Spanish and replies in kind, automatically.
Source on every answer: the citation is part of the response, not a footnote.
Handoff: if someone wants to plan a visit, ask for prayer, or talk to a real person, the assistant routes that request to the right ministry leader.

Before the AI processes any message, a hard-coded check runs first. If the message signals acute distress — in English or Spanish — the system routes immediately to the 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline, the Crisis Text Line (text HOME to 741741), and your church's own care team. The AI does not attempt a pastoral or clinical response in a crisis. This is not optional and cannot be turned off.
